Okta is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to join the Onboarding and Lifecycle Management (LCM) Platform team in Bengaluru. This role focuses on enhancing and managing services for importing, syncing, and provisioning identities and access policies—users, groups, roles, and entitlements—within Okta's identity management platform.
You will work with senior engineering teams on major development projects, serving as a key contributor to LCM infrastructure implementation. Responsibilities include designing and implementing features with comprehensive testing, conducting design and code reviews, performance tuning, and troubleshooting customer issues using tools like Splunk. You'll provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers while interfacing with architects, QA, product owners, and site reliability engineering teams.
The ideal candidate has 8+ years of software development experience in Java, with significant expertise in SCIM and Spring Boot. You should have 5+ years building services, internal tools, and frameworks, plus 2+ years automating and deploying large-scale production services on AWS, GCP, or similar platforms. Deep understanding of infrastructure technologies—caching, stream processing, resilient architectures—is essential. Experience with RESTful and SOAP APIs, distributed team collaboration, and mentoring is required.
Nice-to-have skills include server-side technologies (caching, asynchronous processing, multi-threading), test-driven development, UI/JavaScript frameworks, and knowledge of identity protocols (OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML, SCIM). A B.S. in Computer Science or related field is preferred.
