Airbnb's iOS Platform team is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to drive projects that improve developer productivity and enable AI agents to work more effectively across the software development workflow. The team maintains and evolves core libraries and frameworks that underlie the Airbnb iOS app, which is nearly 100% written in Swift and adopts the latest Apple technologies including SwiftUI, Swift Macros, Swift Testing, and structured concurrency.
In this role, you'll be responsible for identifying opportunities to improve developer productivity, driving roadmap projects, and enhancing existing frameworks and tooling. You'll collaborate with team members and cross-functional partners to deliver high-quality results that support the team's mission of providing best-in-class iOS development experience at scale.
The work spans a large surface area including frameworks, tooling, build systems, CI, testing, and AI automations. You'll work on projects that leverage agentic AI to improve software development workflows and drive large-scale migrations, while identifying and addressing inefficiencies in AI agent workflows to improve execution time, token efficiency, reliability, and quality.
This is a US-remote-eligible position with occasional work at Airbnb offices or attendance at offsites as agreed with your manager. You must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity (check the careers page for the exclusion list). The role includes the ability to travel to the San Francisco office for about a week each quarter for gatherings.

- Experience identifying and addressing inefficiencies in AI agent workflows to improve execution time, token efficiency, reliability, and quality
- Experience working in medium- to large-scale codebases
- iOS development experience in Swift, including building applications, libraries, and frameworks
- Nice to have: Experience designing and developing build systems (e.g., Bazel)
