Arista Networks is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with deep expertise in tooling design and manufacturing-focused solutions for high-volume electronics production. You will lead the end-to-end design, development, and validation of custom tooling, test fixtures, and jigs that support New Product Introduction (NPI) and scalable manufacturing environments. In this role, you will own the mechanical design process from concept through CAD modeling, documentation, vendor engagement, and pilot build support. You'll translate mechanical and process requirements into detailed CAD models and technical drawings, perform tolerance stackup analysis for complex assemblies, and select appropriate manufacturing processes (CNC machining, injection molding, sheet metal, coatings) for tooling applications. You will collaborate closely with Hardware Engineering, Platform Design, Reliability Engineering, and global contract manufacturing (CM) partners. Key responsibilities include participating in design reviews, providing DFM/DFT feedback for new products, working with overseas vendors to support tool release and prototyping, and researching new manufacturing technologies to improve tooling quality and cost-effectiveness. You'll also create and manage BOMs, ECOs, and revision histories, with experience in PLM systems like Agile PLM or Windchill PDMLink valued. This is an engineering-focused role emphasizing innovation and early design influence rather than factory floor support. You'll demonstrate exceptional problem-solving abilities, including debugging electromechanical systems, performing failure and root cause analysis using structured methodologies like 8D, and leading cross-functional collaboration. QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering - 5+ years as a Mechanical Design Engineer with deep DFM expertise for prototype and production - 1–3 years hands-on experience scaling and implementing liquid cooling thermal solutions (board level through facility level), including cold plates, fittings, tubing, hose terminations, leak detection, CDUs, and AALCs - Proven working knowledge of PLM systems and strong command of ECO/MCO/DEV/PCN processes - Demonstrated ability to debug and troubleshoot electromechanical systems, perform failure and root cause analysis, and apply structured problem-solving methodologies (8D) - Exceptional leadership and mentoring capabilities with strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills
