Archer Technologies is building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft designed to carry four passengers with minimal noise. The company is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead simulation and test infrastructure for aircraft validation and verification—critical work that directly supports the path to FAA certification and commercial operations. In this high-ownership, high-visibility role, you will design and build simulation environments for integrated labs, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems, and software benches used across the aircraft development program. You'll own the tools and interfaces that optimize workflows, ensure configuration management, and maintain traceability required for regulatory compliance. Key responsibilities include integrating third-party software and hardware systems into simulation architectures, developing CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment and monitoring, and setting technical standards across the test organization. You'll mentor other engineers, lead work planning and breakdowns, and drive resolution of complex technical issues. This requires deep expertise in HW-in-the-loop simulation environments, strong C/C++ and Python skills, and hands-on experience with MATLAB/Simulink in real-time contexts. You must be proficient with aerospace communication protocols (RS-422/485, CAN/CAN-FD, ARINC-429, Ethernet/TCP-IP) and CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions and Jenkins. Experience with NI software (LabVIEW, VeriStand), real-time OS development, FAA frameworks, and DO-178 standards is highly valued. A bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Software, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field is required, along with 8+ years of relevant experience. The ideal candidate has aerospace, spacecraft, or autonomous vehicle background and thrives in fast-paced startup environments.
