Temporal Technologies is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Infrastructure Foundations team, driving technical strategy and execution across compute, networking, and cloud orchestration. This role focuses on designing and building systems that optimize cloud usage and enable global expansion while maintaining reliability and operational excellence.
Key responsibilities include:
**Invent & Design**: Architect distributed systems for cloud optimization and global scalability. Co-author infrastructure roadmaps setting vision for scalability, reliability, and engineering velocity. Build reliable network, storage, and compute systems while fostering a culture of engineering excellence.
**Own & Lead**: Develop partnerships across engineering, security, and product teams to align infrastructure goals. Lead design reviews emphasizing system reliability, scalability, and maintainability. Engage with stakeholders and customers to understand requirements and enable success. Partner with security to ensure infrastructure is secure by default.
**Learn & Explore**: Deeply understand how to leverage Temporal's platform for infrastructure at scale. Gain insights into customer needs and translate them into design decisions. Explore new technologies to enhance reliability and scalability.
**Collaborate & Mentor**: Share and advocate design principles for reliable systems at scale. Mentor and grow other engineers, fostering learning and collaboration. Drive alignment across teams ensuring roadmaps connect to organizational goals.
**Required Qualifications**:
- 10+ years of coding experience in Go, Java, or similar languages with concurrent code expertise
- Proven track record leading complex, cross-functional engineering efforts in cloud, compute, networking, and storage infrastructure
- Strong distributed systems design experience with deep expertise in at least one infrastructure domain
- Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, optimizing for cost, performance, and reliability
- Exceptional collaboration and communication skills
- Passion for technical excellence, scalability, and operational reliability
