Okta is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer in Test to join the Identity Management Engineering (IDM) team. This role focuses on ensuring large-scale, mission-critical software is delivered with the highest quality and reliability in a fast-paced Agile environment.
Key responsibilities include leading and mentoring a team of Software Engineers in Test, driving quality initiatives and automation excellence. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to review requirements, define test strategies, and ensure seamless, high-quality releases. The role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining automated tests for APIs, end-to-end workflows, scalability, and reliability across enterprise-grade systems.
You'll leverage Generative AI tools and frameworks to enhance productivity and accelerate test development. Additional duties include conducting code reviews, identifying defects, building tools to strengthen test coverage, and partnering with engineering management to plan and deliver high-impact projects. Participation in on-call rotations is expected to address production and customer issues.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in software engineering or related field, with 10–15 years of experience as a Software Engineer in Test, preferably in enterprise SaaS or product-based companies. Strong expertise in quality engineering for large-scale systems is essential. You must have hands-on experience with Java-based test automation, Web/API/Performance testing, and proficiency with tools such as Selenium, TestCafe, Rest Assured, Karate, Postman, JMeter, Splunk, and AWS. Experience with distributed systems, CI/CD pipelines, test planning, strategy, and cross-functional collaboration is required.
Nice-to-have skills include experience with Office 365, Google Workspace, Salesforce, Active Directory/LDAP integrations, and exposure to Generative AI or AI-driven testing tools.
