Adyen is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to design and build scalable, low-latency systems that integrate Machine Learning into production environments for identity and risk intelligence. You will work on data-driven risk management to combat financial crime and fraud at massive global scale, serving millions of business owners worldwide.
Key responsibilities include designing robust software systems that integrate ML models into production, collaborating with product managers and data scientists to translate business problems into technical solutions, evaluating and adopting new technologies, mentoring junior engineers and peers through technical leadership, advocating for best practices in software engineering and system architecture, and leading technical design discussions that shape the technology roadmap. You will also work cross-functionally with non-technical teams including Account Management, Compliance, and Operations.
Required qualifications: 10-12+ years of hands-on software engineering experience building data-intensive applications, including system design, architecture, and development. Strong expertise in building scalable, reliable, low-latency systems. Proficiency in Java (Python a plus). Experience with incident management, SQL and NoSQL databases (Postgres, Cassandra), streaming and queuing frameworks, data engineering concepts, and big data tools like Spark. You should have deep curiosity about learning new technologies, excellent communication skills, collaborative mindset, strong product sense, and passion for applying technology pragmatically to solve real business problems.
