Hinge Health is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own and evolve the Home Pod experience on their React Native mobile app. The Home Pod is the first surface members encounter when opening the Hinge Health app and sits on a critical business path for member engagement and care navigation. In this role, you'll be the senior-most engineer on a strong pod, partnering closely with product, design, data, and backend teams to define technical direction, raise quality standards, and mentor junior engineers. You'll focus on delivering a delightful experience that reliably guides members into the right sessions and programs through experimentation and data-driven iteration. Key responsibilities include: building deep understanding of the Home domain and member journeys; mapping the current Home funnel to identify drop-offs and prioritize experiments; shipping meaningful improvements to the React Native experience with focus on performance, reliability, and polish; mentoring pod engineers in mobile best practices and experimentation mindset; improving the server-driven UI architecture for Home in collaboration with backend teams; owning the long-term technical roadmap for the Home pod's client architecture; driving cross-team initiatives to improve end-to-end journeys from Home through sessions and care plans; and raising engineering standards across testing, observability, reliability, accessibility, and performance. You should be a mobile product craftsperson who cares deeply about core flows and how they feel in users' hands. You're experimentation-oriented, comfortable with server-driven UI patterns, and enjoy mentoring and collaborating with cross-functional teams. You think in terms of systems and business impact, taking problems from idea through launch, measurement, and iteration. Required: 4+ years of software engineering experience building and shipping user-facing applications in production; Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; 2+ years of hands-on React Native experience building mobile applications at scale. Preferred: experience designing server-driven UI or configuration-driven presentation layers; track record running A/B tests or multivariate tests on core product surfaces; strong proficiency with TypeScript/JavaScript, React Native, and modern mobile tooling; familiarity with backend services (Node/TypeScript, GraphQL); experience on high-traffic critical-path surfaces; demonstrated mentoring ability; comfort collaborating with product, design, and data partners; experience in healthcare or regulated/data-sensitive environments. This is a hybrid role based in San Francisco, requiring in-person attendance three days per week for full 8-hour business days. Remote days allow flexibility during core business hours. The office features a dog-friendly workplace program.
