Hims & Hers, a NYSE-traded health and wellness platform, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Growth Engineering team. This full-stack role emphasizes frontend development and will drive the technical strategy for growth initiatives across the customer platform.
You will lead complex engineering projects, mentor senior engineers, and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver high-impact solutions that enhance user acquisition, retention, and customer experience. Key responsibilities include:
- Drive frontend excellence across Growth Engineering, ensuring fast, accessible, and visually polished user experiences that reflect brand standards and improve conversion metrics (LCP, CLS, interactivity).
- Lead cross-team initiatives from inception through execution, coordinating stakeholders and managing risk to deliver on key success metrics.
- Serve as the accountable technical leader for key systems or domains, owning both outcomes and long-term evolution.
- Champion principled decision-making that balances short-term delivery with long-term system health and organizational scale.
- Lead architectural design and evolution for multi-team systems, aligning abstractions with scalability and business goals.
- Raise engineering standards by ensuring all solutions are robust, testable, observable, maintainable, secure, and scalable.
- Create and promote shared architectural patterns, tools, and infrastructure that improve engineering efficiency across teams.
- Participate in product discovery to assess feasibility, explore user needs, and validate ideas with prototypes and experiments.
- Mentor senior engineers and foster a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Drive technical discussions as a member of the technical advisory group to shape growth engineering strategy and roadmap.
- Analyze performance metrics and user feedback to inform technical direction and product enhancements.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve engineering processes.
Required qualifications: 8+ years shipping production code as a software engineer; proven track record leading complex projects and cross-team initiatives; deep architectural expertise in scalable, resilient systems; proficiency in modern frontend frameworks (React, Next, GraphQL) and backend technologies (Node.js, Python); expertise in observability, incident response, and reliability engineering; exceptional problem-solving and strategic thinking; ability to align engineering with product and business goals; comfort navigating high ambiguity; exceptional communication and leadership skills; proven influence across teams without authority; experience introducing new architecture and design concepts with coaching and adoption.
