Relativity Space is building Terran R, a commercial launch vehicle designed to deliver payloads to orbit and support future space exploration and manufacturing. The Terrestrial Software team owns the digital backbone for an automated rocket factory and integrated launch platform, automating workflows from raw material intake through launch operations.
In this Staff Software Engineer role, you will own the frontend platform powering the operator UI—the application shell, design system, and shared data layer that all other teams build upon. You'll define the architecture and contribution model enabling domain teams to ship their own UI modules into a cohesive, unified application. This includes consolidating multiple separate front ends into a single operator platform and building for hard real-time performance, rendering live hardware telemetry at high rates against strict, safety-critical performance budgets.
You'll set technical direction and quality standards for frontend across the organization, mentor and elevate engineers around you, and shape the digital systems that will eventually power autonomous operations on Earth and beyond. This is a high-impact role at a critical inflection point—Terran R is tangible and gaining momentum, and you'll have the autonomy to influence product, process, and culture from the ground up.
You bring 8+ years of production web application experience with deep TypeScript and React expertise. You have a proven track record owning a frontend platform, design system, or large shared codebase that other teams depend on. You excel at frontend performance—profiling, render optimization, and keeping complex UIs responsive under heavy, continuous data streams. You thrive in cross-functional environments and are energized by solving novel technical problems in a fast-moving, mission-driven context.
