DeepL is seeking a Software Engineer to join the API Core team, which serves as the bridge connecting DeepL's AI capabilities to developers worldwide. The API Core team focuses on Developer Experience (DevEx), API platform infrastructure, and enabling internal product teams to launch world-class APIs quickly.
In this role, you will contribute across the full stack to ship features that create delightful experiences for both external developers and internal engineering teams. Key responsibilities include:
• Contribute to Developer Experience: Build features that improve how developers discover, onboard to, and use DeepL APIs. This includes implementing self-service flows, onboarding experiences, and configuration interfaces that reduce friction from the first API call.
• Build Platform Components: Implement reusable components, contribute to documentation, and maintain client libraries (SDKs) and starter templates that enable customers and ISVs to build AI-enabled products on DeepL's platform.
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with teammates across API Core and adjacent teams (Enterprise, Core Text, Voice, Customization) to deliver consistent, well-designed APIs. Participate actively in code reviews, design discussions, and contribute to shared standards.
• Write Quality Code: Produce well-tested, production-ready code and contribute to monitoring, alerting, and reliability improvements. Participate in incident response and postmortems to continuously raise the bar on code quality and operational health.
You should have solid backend fundamentals with experience in Go, Python, Java, C#, or similar languages, plus comfort with RESTful APIs and server-side systems. Full-stack curiosity is valued—you may contribute to frontend work (React/TypeScript dashboards, signup flows). A developer-centric mindset is essential: you think about APIs from the user's perspective, care about clear abstractions and helpful error messages, and take ownership of what you ship. Leverage AI-powered tools like GitHub Copilot and Claude to accelerate output and reduce toil.
