Hinge Health is building a new Gastrointestinal (GI) Care Program to expand beyond its core Digital Physical Therapy offering. Following the acquisition of Cylinder Health, a leader in virtual-first digestive healthcare, the company is launching a comprehensive GI product expected in 2027. As Staff Software Engineer for GI, you will lead the technical vision for an end-to-end digital care experience serving the roughly one in four U.S. adults affected by GI conditions.
You will be a senior technical contributor who leads through code, technical judgment, and influence—setting direction for critical systems while contributing to production code daily. Your responsibilities span the full stack: AI systems, UX interfaces (React Native), business logic middleware, hardware integration, and clinician workflows. You'll mentor engineers on the pod, establish engineering best practices for CI/CD, testing, monitoring, and performance, and personally develop the hardest technical challenges.
In your first three months, you'll help define the GI product from scratch, build partnerships across Product, Design, and Marketing, develop the technical roadmap, and create prototypes for the most complex components. By six months, you'll have shipped a minimum lovable product (MLP) delivering measurable health improvements, established engineering standards, and mentored the team. Within a year, you'll have launched the product, iterated based on member feedback, and driven cross-team initiatives to improve the end-to-end user journey.
You are a 0-to-1 builder with a track record of shipping brand-new products. You move fast, balance innovation with pragmatism, and think in terms of business impact and systems. You're fluent across the tech stack (React Native, TypeScript/Node.js, Go, GraphQL, AWS, AI agents, computer vision, medical device integration) and use that fluency to coach and set direction. You're experiment-driven, comfortable running dense A/B testing roadmaps without sacrificing quality. You mentor and collaborate effectively, create clear expectations, and foster a culture where engineers do their best work.
