Salary: USD 202,500 - 274,000 / annual
Join Intuit's QuickBooks Capital & Lending team as a Staff Software Engineer, Full Stack. You'll architect and build cloud-native, AI-powered software that helps millions of small businesses access capital to grow. The team works with a modern stack: Java/Kotlin and Spring Boot on the backend; React and TypeScript on the frontend; Kafka, Elasticsearch, and SQL/NoSQL data stores; all running on Kubernetes and AWS.
You'll drive significant technical initiatives end-to-end across every layer of the stack, from API and data design to frontend experience. Approximately 70% of your time will be spent coding while setting technical direction for your team. You'll architect scalable, secure, cloud-native applications and services that interoperate cleanly with surrounding systems.
Key responsibilities include acting as the technical subject-matter expert, leading design of complex features, mentoring engineers, and guiding the team through challenging programming and design problems. You'll lead requirements gathering, technical design, and project planning. You'll identify high-impact opportunities to apply AI—both to enhance products and accelerate engineering—and coach the team on using AI tools responsibly and effectively. You'll champion engineering quality through automated testing, CI/CD, observability, performance, security, accessibility, and internationalization.
You'll communicate clearly through technical documentation and design reviews, partnering across product, design, QE, and other engineering teams. You own quality through the full lifecycle, resolving issues across QA, pre-production, production, and post-release.
Required: 8+ years designing and developing online SaaS applications with full-stack expertise. BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent. Strong backend expertise in Java/Kotlin with Spring Boot. Strong frontend expertise with JavaScript, TypeScript, and React. 5+ years building and consuming web APIs (REST, gRPC, GraphQL). Deep command of the full software development lifecycle and software design/architecture. Experience with automated testing, TDD, and CI/CD pipelines. Strong technical leadership and excellent communication skills. Experience in Agile/Scrum teams.
Preferred: Cloud-native development on AWS with microservices, containers, and Kubernetes. Experience with Kafka, Elasticsearch, and SQL/NoSQL database design. Hands-on experience building or integrating AI/GenAI capabilities. Experience with observability and instrumentation. Business acumen and track record of building strong teams.
