Archer Technologies is building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft based in San Jose, California. The company is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Airline Operations Software Ecosystem team—a group building mission-critical software for aircraft operations, dispatch, and performance management. In this role, you will own the full software development lifecycle for key platform components. Your responsibilities include designing and implementing backend infrastructure (database schemas, API architecture, orchestration services), building web and mobile applications, and architecting the tech stack that serves as the backbone for the operations platform. You'll lead end-to-end technical execution, balancing scalability, speed, and reliability. A key focus is implementing and productizing machine learning and deep learning algorithms developed by the AI/ML research team, particularly around AI-focused front-end features and voice agent capabilities. You will collaborate closely with design, data science, and aviation domain experts to develop features for aircraft performance monitoring and dispatch optimization. You'll also contribute to the technical roadmap, ideate solutions, and prototype tools. The role emphasizes using modern code-generation technologies and serverless/microservice architectures to achieve high productivity. Required qualifications include 5+ years of post-college or entrepreneurial experience, a Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering (or equivalent demonstrated technical achievement), and end-to-end software development experience from front-end through cloud deployment. You should have a strong GitHub history with personal projects or open-source contributions, the ability to create polished products independently, and deep familiarity with AI/ML integration in SaaS products. Experience with serverless and microservice architectures on major cloud platforms, production-grade CI/CD pipelines, and rapid iteration on customer needs is essential. Bonus qualifications include hands-on experience with Kubernetes, AWS services (S3, RDS, SQS, Lambda), Docker, and workflow orchestration tools like Temporal.
