In this Staff-level role, you will set technical strategy for Affirm's frontend surfaces on a year-long timescale and lead critical, business-impacting projects. You'll bring deep React and TypeScript expertise to coordinate and implement major product features from design and product requirements, modernize web code implementation, and evolve design systems and architecture. You'll leverage codemods, AI agent skills, and custom tools to work efficiently across the product engineering teams.
Key responsibilities include: defining and advocating for technical solutions that serve as force-multipliers for your team; collaborating across product management, design, and analytics to ensure technical sustainability and manage risks; owning operations and availability through monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, testing, and alerting; fostering a culture of quality by setting code review and design standards; and developing talent through feedback, guidance, and leadership by example.
You'll thrive in ambiguity, moving fluidly from low-level language idioms to large-system architecture. You have 8+ years developing and architecting web applications with declarative UI frameworks (React, Vue), strong JavaScript/TypeScript proficiency, and demonstrated experience driving horizontal initiatives across multiple teams. You excel at delivering major features, deprecating functionality, and writing high-quality, easily understood code. Your communication skills support effective collaboration with global engineering teams.
