Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations Cloud, a platform enabling organizations in physical operations (agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, manufacturing) to harness IoT data for actionable insights and operational improvements. The Platform team builds foundational systems that power Samsara's product suite, including Alerts, Workflows, Notifications, Reports, User Management, Roles and Permissions, and Billing.
As a Staff Engineer on the Platform team, you will be a technical leader responsible for spearheading the technical direction and architecture of the platform. You will drive technology choices, implement services, and establish architectural patterns with broad and lasting impact across Samsara's infrastructure. Key responsibilities include identifying strategic opportunities to influence platform technology direction, architecting and designing software that enables Samsara to operate at scale, and leading teams in delivering products and capabilities that contribute to revenue.
You will solve the hardest technical problems while enabling products to reach market quickly with high quality. Acting as a multiplier for the team, you will elevate the impact and output of every team member. You will maintain a platform-first approach while collaborating with infrastructure and product teams, and contribute to Samsara's engineering brand through external-facing forums and representation.
The role requires 8+ years of software design and development experience with at least 2 years in an architect or leadership role. You need 4+ years building large-scale distributed systems, stellar programming fundamentals, and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent practical experience. The final interview stage includes a full-day in-person onsite at the SF office to collaborate with senior technical leaders on complex problems.
