True Anomaly is seeking an exceptional Staff Elixir Software Engineer to lead the technical direction and evolution of their distributed spacecraft ground control system. This is a high-impact, strategic leadership role where you'll define and drive the backend systems technical roadmap, lead cross-functional initiatives spanning engineering, product, and operations, and establish architectural foundations that will scale the distributed ground control platform for years to come.
You'll identify strategic technical investments, champion them across the organization, and lead their execution. Beyond building features, you'll shape product direction, influence company objectives, and mentor engineers building the next generation of the platform. When you identify systemic issues affecting reliability, velocity, or quality, you'll diagnose root causes, build consensus around solutions, and drive organizational change.
Key responsibilities include leading large-scale, cross-functional distributed systems initiatives aligned with strategic company objectives; defining and driving the Elixir/OTP systems roadmap and architectural strategy; serving as the primary technical decision-maker for distributed systems architecture; proactively identifying systemic reliability risks and scalability challenges; elevating the engineering organization through technical mentorship and best practices; partnering with executive leadership, product, design, frontend engineering, space operations, and astrodynamics teams; driving engineering efficiency through metrics, tooling, and processes; building technical documentation and architectural decision records; representing the distributed systems engineering perspective in strategic planning; and identifying and developing emerging technical leaders.
True Anomaly delivers decisive capabilities for space superiority, building autonomous spacecraft, advanced payloads, mission software, and space-based interceptors to enable the U.S. and its Allies to secure the space environment. You don't need prior experience in space ground systems or aerospace—you'll lead high-priority, greenfield initiatives with strategic importance and a chance to fundamentally impact future outcomes. The company offers world-class benefits including platinum healthcare, flexible work hours and location, highly competitive compensation, and a generous stock options package.
