Anthropic is building an AI-driven education platform and seeking a Staff Software Engineer to architect and own the technical foundation for how the company educates customers and enterprises at scale. This is a full-stack role with deep backend focus, responsible for designing enterprise-ready infrastructure including authentication/SSO, learner data models, content delivery, credentialing systems, and progress tracking.
You will own the technical vision for Anthropic's AI-native educational experiences, making product-level decisions about how the platform works rather than simply implementing specifications. Key responsibilities include architecting scalable education infrastructure, building AI-augmented pipelines for content generation and real-time adaptation, designing platform capabilities that enable adaptive learning paths and competency-based progression, and creating abstractions that let non-engineers configure and extend educational experiences.
The role requires interfacing closely with Anthropic's security, infrastructure, and data teams while partnering with educators and trainers on GTM and developer relations. You'll translate pedagogical intent into technical architecture, working with ambiguity and ownership to shape what's possible in AI-forward education.
Ideal candidates have 7+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated ability to take platforms from zero to production at scale. You should have genuine passion for education and how people learn, strong full-stack skills with particular backend strength (databases, APIs, authentication, reliability, infrastructure), and experience building and operating platforms serving many concurrent users. Experience with learning platforms, credentialing systems, or educational technology is a plus. You should be comfortable using AI tools in your own engineering workflows and curious about how AI fundamentally changes educational platforms.
