Huntress is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to lead technical workstreams on the Detection Platform team, which builds the engines and pipelines that process billions of telemetry events into actionable security signals for a 24/7 SOC. Founded in 2015 by former NSA operators, Huntress secures over 5M endpoints and 14M identities worldwide, making enterprise-grade cybersecurity accessible to mid-market businesses. In this hands-on technical leadership role, you will own three major areas: (1) Detection engine and pipeline modernization, including rewriting the detection engine to support Sigma v2 specification with stateful correlation across events, and consolidating bespoke per-product detectors onto a common platform; (2) Reliability and behavior under load, building end-to-end latency measurement, liveness coverage, and alerting to catch silent failures and handle detection volume spikes; and (3) Event schemas and data contracts, driving coherent internal standards and building validation tooling to catch upstream changes before they break detections. You will lead major workstreams, set direction that other engineering teams build against, and write and review production code every week. This role reports to the Engineering Manager and requires deep experience designing, building, and operating production distributed systems at scale in Go. You must have hands-on experience replacing or substantially re-architecting live, high-throughput systems without breaking consumers, and proven ability to stage cutover safely and validate equivalence. Strong operability instincts, technical leadership across team boundaries, and judgment about production quality are essential. Experience with high-volume event/data pipelines, AI coding tools, and ideally a background in security operations or security engineering are highly valued.
