Okta's Auth0 is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Delegated Administration team, which is expanding Auth0's capabilities to help B2B SaaS applications manage access for their customers and partners at scale. The team enables enterprise SaaS users to log in with appropriate permissions in the right context and helps B2B customers onboard access for their end-users seamlessly. In this role, you will drive architectural vision and strategy for the team, designing and delivering powerful new enterprise functionality for SaaS customers across both login flows and Auth0's self-service management capabilities. You'll identify and implement strategic technical improvements to the codebase and architecture, orchestrating major technical projects across teams as needed. You'll mentor and coach less experienced engineers on sound engineering practices and technical leadership, serving as a subject matter expert on building scalable, reliable, and maintainable distributed systems. You'll collaborate closely with your team, Product Manager, and Product Designer to define the look, feel, and functionality of new features while incorporating customer feedback. The team works primarily in Node.js (JavaScript and TypeScript) with PostgreSQL for data needs, running services on AWS and Azure with containerization for both development and production. You bring solid architectural and security knowledge backed by experience designing, implementing, and evolving complex distributed systems. You have a track record of successful cross-team collaboration and are an excellent mentor and communicator who can explain complex concepts clearly. You have proven experience with Node.js for building scalable backend services and creating public and internal APIs, plus hands-on experience with frontend and full-stack development including React and CSS. You understand SQL databases deeply, can debug and optimize performance under load, and have experience with Docker and cloud environments (AWS and Azure preferred). You've operated services at scale with appropriate observability tools and mechanisms. Extra credit for experience with authentication protocols (OAuth2, OIDC, SAML), DevOps culture and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), and security engineering/application security.
