Affirm is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead the Continuous Integration (CI) team, driving the design, implementation, and optimization of systems that support automated testing, build orchestration, and deployment across the organization.
In this role, you will own the design, scalability, and reliability of build pipelines across multiple services and platforms. You'll ensure fast, reliable feedback cycles for developers by optimizing build times, test coverage, and reporting. You'll implement monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes for CI systems to minimize downtime and maximize developer productivity.
You will work closely with engineering teams across the company to ensure smooth integrations and deployment workflows. You'll identify developer pain points and lead initiatives to improve productivity through tooling, automation, and best practices. You'll evangelize CI/CD practices across the organization to raise engineering efficiency standards.
As a leader, you'll contribute to and help drive the vision for continuous integration and developer productivity infrastructure. You'll lead and mentor other CI engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and technical excellence. You'll partner with engineering leadership to align CI systems with broader product and platform goals.
You bring proven experience driving and leading engineering efforts in CI, build systems, or developer productivity. You have a strong background in modern build systems (GitHub, Buildkite, Artifactory) and familiarity with cloud-native environments (AWS, Kubernetes) and infrastructure-as-code practices. You have solid programming skills in Python, Kotlin, Java, or similar languages and can guide technical decision-making. You excel at balancing long-term vision with short-term impact and have experience managing build systems for large monorepos. Active open-source contributions or experience at leading tech companies is a plus.
