Discord is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Consumer Revenue organization, which drives monetization across the platform's premium experiences. You'll work on core revenue surfaces including Nitro (premium subscription), Shop (cosmetics marketplace), Server Boosting, and User Identity systems.
In this full-stack role, you'll own complex initiatives end-to-end, partnering with Product, Design, Data Science, and Marketing to build best-in-class consumer experiences. Your responsibilities include accelerating growth of existing revenue streams, laying technical foundations for new monetization opportunities, and collaborating with other Staff Engineers to drive technical alignment across systems. You'll advise leadership on critical technical considerations and strategic planning, while setting the technical bar for your team across Web, Android, and iOS platforms.
You'll work across the full technical stack: backend data modeling and business logic in Python APIs, frontend development in React and React Native, and polished user-facing interfaces. The role emphasizes rapid prototyping, experimentation in ambiguous problem spaces, and maintaining high performance standards across client-server interactions.
Required: 8+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of leading large initiatives with meaningful impact. Expert-level proficiency in React/React Native and solid Python backend development skills. Strong product sense, technical leadership ability, ownership mentality, and first-principles problem-solving approach. You should have demonstrated experience with performance optimization, growth mindset, and cross-functional collaboration.
Bonus experience includes prior work on growth, monetization, or user engagement systems.
