Discord is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Consumer Revenue organization, which sits at the center of building a sustainable business around Discord's highly engaged community of millions of daily active users. In this full-stack product engineering role, you'll shape the technical strategy across premium experiences and core user identity, working on surfaces like Nitro, Shop, Server Boosting, and User Identity.
You'll own complex initiatives end-to-end by partnering with Product to refine requirements, creating technical specs, and collaborating closely with Design to execute best-in-class user experiences. Your responsibilities include accelerating growth of existing revenue streams while laying the foundation for new monetization opportunities, advising leadership on critical technical considerations tied to engineering excellence, and leading full-stack engineering work across Web, Android, and iOS.
You'll collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Data Science, Design, Marketing, and other functions. The role requires rapidly prototyping new features, synthesizing insights through experimentation, and thriving in ambiguous problem spaces. You'll work across the full breadth of the technical stack, from backend data modeling and business logic in APIs to polished, user-facing interfaces, supported by infrastructure, platform, and product teams.
Required qualifications include 8+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of leading large initiatives from inception to launch that have had meaningful impact beyond your immediate team. You need full-stack proficiency as an expert in React/React Native with solid Python backend development skills. The tech stack includes web (React, TypeScript), mobile (React Native, Kotlin, Objective-C, Swift), and backend (Python).
You should demonstrate strong product sense, technical leadership ability to help teams move with clarity and purpose, ownership mentality with comfort in ambiguity, and a holistic approach to problem-solving. A performance-focused mindset with understanding of React and client-server optimization, plus a growth mindset viewing challenges as learning opportunities, are essential. Bonus experience includes growth and monetization work on revenue-focused teams.
