Addepar is a global data and AI platform serving investment professionals, managing nearly $9 trillion in assets across 1,400+ firms in 60 countries. The Client Experience Frameworks team owns the UI platform and design system that all product engineers at Addepar build with—a component library and framework-agnostic system serving 250+ engineers globally. As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll build the foundational tools, systems, and primitives that enable other engineers to be productive. Rather than shipping product features, you'll focus on platform infrastructure: designing framework-agnostic UI components that work across multiple frontend technologies, driving design system adoption across the engineering organization, and making pragmatic architecture decisions that balance scalability with real-world constraints. Key responsibilities include: - Design and build reusable UI components serving product teams across multiple frontend frameworks simultaneously - Drive adoption of the design system across the product engineering organization, consulting with teams and unblocking migration efforts - Own end-to-end technical delivery: scoping work with stakeholders, making architecture decisions, and shipping to production - Improve developer experience through build tooling, testing infrastructure, documentation, and automation - Make thoughtful decisions about component composition, API design, and long-term maintainability - Champion performance, accessibility, and web standards as first-class concerns - Provide cross-team technical leadership through code review, consulting, and mentorship You bring at least 5 years of professional software engineering experience with deep TypeScript expertise and strong opinions about type-safe, maintainable code. You have significant experience with modern UI frameworks (React, Vue, Angular, etc.) and ideally have worked across multiple frameworks. You understand the web platform deeply: Web Components, browser APIs, the DOM, and how frameworks abstract over them. You have hands-on experience with build systems and bundlers (Webpack, Vite, Rollup). You've built or maintained a design system, component library, or shared UI infrastructure used by other engineering teams. You bring a track record of influencing technical decisions across teams and managing stakeholders with competing needs, with a pragmatic approach to technical debt and tradeoffs.
