Salary: USD 150,000 - 234,000 / annual

You will join the Calculation Engines team, which operates the critical infrastructure powering Addepar's financial analytics and reporting product. More than 95% of all Addepar traffic flows through this infrastructure. In this Staff-level role, you will be responsible for designing and building the next generation of distributed microservice components, development tooling, and CI/CD systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and build distributed microservice components in Addepar's calculation engine, a data-intensive application
- Scale the Java-based calculation engine to handle 100x larger workloads using best-of-breed time series analytics database technologies
- Participate in architectural decisions balancing data consistency, throughput, speed, operability, and cost
- Profile and improve system efficiency in a highly concurrent platform
You bring 7+ years of software engineering experience with strong object-oriented programming skills. You are proficient in Java, Python, SQL, and relational/key-value databases. Experience with Kubernetes, Linux, shell scripting, and systems-level programming is valued. You excel at exploring complex problem spaces from multiple perspectives, combining legacy and modern technologies to drive outcomes. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
