Zocdoc is a healthcare marketplace that empowers patients by making it easy to find and book in-person or virtual care across all 50 states, 200+ specialties, and 12,000+ insurance plans. As a Staff Software Engineer on the Billing team, you will lead the evolution of Zocdoc's billing systems into a flexible, best-in-class platform capable of supporting diverse pricing models—from the core marketplace to new AI-driven products like Zo, an AI Phone Assistant.
Your primary responsibilities include architecting the technical direction of the billing system to support Zocdoc's growth in providers, patients, and products. You will build and maintain modern, event-driven billing workflows and pricing algorithm systems that ensure accuracy and reliability. You'll collaborate closely with Finance, Product, and Design teams to solve provider and internal billing needs with efficient technical solutions. Working with engineering peers, you'll define and implement best practices that ensure high code quality and system reliability across new features and services.
You will own the ongoing accuracy and stability of the billing engine and financial data, triaging issues with team support. Additionally, you'll integrate cutting-edge GenAI tools to optimize technical planning and coding efficiency across your team and the broader engineering organization.
This is a high-visibility role where you'll drive projects from conception through launch, mentor talented engineers, and make architectural decisions that define how Zocdoc scales its billing platform. You'll take genuine pride in ensuring financial data integrity and that the numbers foot every single time.
