Socure is building identity trust infrastructure for the digital economy, verifying identities in real time and preventing fraud at scale. The company serves businesses, governments, and millions of end users globally. You'll join the Engineering team in London as a Staff Software Engineer focused on backend systems. This is a high-impact role combining hands-on technical work with Staff-level leadership and influence across the organization. Key responsibilities include: - Design and build highly scalable, reliable backend services and APIs that handle identity verification at massive scale - Own complex technical problems end-to-end, from architecture through production deployment and optimization - Collaborate across Engineering, Product, Infrastructure, and Data Science teams to deliver solutions that directly impact fraud prevention - Drive architectural decisions and establish engineering standards and best practices - Build secure, observable, and resilient distributed systems with strong privacy and data protection - Mentor engineers across the team and raise the overall technical bar - Solve challenging production and performance problems in high-volume, mission-critical systems You bring strong experience building and operating large-scale backend systems in production. Preferred technical skills include Golang (primary), Java, or Scala; deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and REST APIs; hands-on AWS experience; and familiarity with both SQL and NoSQL databases. You've worked with high-volume data, streaming, or event-driven architectures. You have a strong grasp of security, privacy, and data protection principles. Beyond technical depth, you excel at problem-solving under ambiguity, communicate clearly, and have a track record of influencing technical decisions and mentoring other engineers. You think like an owner, move fast, and care deeply about solving customer problems with precision. This role requires permanent right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship). You must be based in London or within commutable distance and able to attend the office as needed for a hybrid arrangement.
