You will join the core engineering team as a Staff Backend Engineer, owning critical systems end-to-end from design through implementation. As a product-led business selling to developers, engineers directly shape the product roadmap and specifications. Your responsibilities include designing and scaling backend systems, APIs, and services for the open-source platform; building world-class developer interfaces including APIs, SDKs, UIs, and runtime environments; collaborating directly with customers to solve integration challenges; optimizing performance, scalability, and reliability across services; and shaping company strategy with high ownership of key decisions. You will also engage with the open-source community, owning and maintaining the repository.
You bring 10+ years of backend engineering experience with proven ability to scale high-traffic systems. You have deep expertise in developer infrastructure, APIs, databases, and performance-critical systems, with a passion for developer tools and best practices. You are comfortable with Node.js and modern backend stacks, a strong communicator who thrives in remote-first environments. You possess a product mindset and developer empathy, optimizing for developer experience. You are pragmatic, positive, and low-ego—stepping up during incidents and unblocking teammates. You are startup-ready: autonomous, ownership-driven, and comfortable navigating ambiguity. You are based in North America, LATAM, or Europe.
