As a Staff Backend Software Engineer, you will serve as a primary technical authority driving the design, performance, and scaling of the core backend architecture. You will partner closely with engineering leadership, cross-functional teams, and senior peers to architect resilient, high-velocity services powering the next-generation intelligent site technology platform.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide strategic technical leadership on backend architecture, technical direction, and engineering design standards across production services
- Ship high-impact backend architecture using Node.js/TypeScript for business-critical backend systems and API services
- Elevate engineering standards by implementing modern methodologies, best practices, and code quality benchmarks to ensure reliability, maintainability, and performance
- Optimize development lifecycles by identifying system bottlenecks, streamlining CI/CD workflows, and introducing tooling that enhances team-wide developer productivity
- Drive cross-functional alignment with Product Management, QA, and DevOps to translate product visions into concrete technical specifications and delivery timelines
- Identify root causes and resolve complex edge cases, applying rigorous problem-solving to protect uptime and system resilience
- Act as a go-to thought leader and mentor, providing structured feedback, architectural design reviews, and continuous technical upskilling to senior and mid-level engineers
This is an onsite role based at the American Fork headquarters. Success is measured by your ability to transform complex business requirements into elegant, reliable cloud services while elevating the technical output of the broader engineering organization.
