SoFi is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Risk Engineering team and lead the design and development of next-generation internal platforms supporting risk, compliance, and business decision-making. This is a high-impact, hands-on technical leadership role for a full-stack engineer who can operate across the entire technology stack, understand complex infrastructure, translate business requirements into durable technical solutions, and mentor other engineers.
Key responsibilities include designing and building full-stack internal applications that combine data from Snowflake, AI infrastructure, visualization dashboards, and business logic integrations into reliable, scalable products. You will develop scalable backend services and APIs that connect application logic with enterprise data platforms, build intuitive frontend experiences and visualization dashboards for business users, and integrate AI-enabled capabilities into internal applications to improve productivity and decision support.
You will partner closely with business stakeholders across risk, compliance, data, security, and infrastructure teams to understand needs and deliver features that solve real operational problems. You'll own the architecture and technical direction for complex application components, establish strong engineering practices for full-stack development including testing, release management, and monitoring, and mentor engineers through technical guidance, design reviews, and knowledge sharing.
Required qualifications include 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with significant production full-stack application development. You need strong backend engineering skills in API design, service architecture, and data modeling; capable frontend engineering experience with modern web technologies; deep experience with cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and operational excellence; and hands-on experience with Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouse platforms. You should have experience building data-driven applications and analytics workflows, familiarity with AI infrastructure and LLM-enabled applications, strong understanding of security and enterprise application design, and proven ability to lead technical design for complex systems and mentor engineers.
Nice-to-have qualifications include experience in risk, compliance, financial services, lending, fraud detection, or regulated environments; experience with BI and data visualization tools; and experience designing human-in-the-loop AI workflows or business process automation tools.
