ServiceNow's AI Experience Framework (AIUX) team is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own full-stack architectural decisions for the company's AI-first user interfaces. You will work with modern Lit-based web components to build modular, reusable conversational experiences that power conversation-first applications like Employee Slate. In this role, you will own code from design through implementation, testing, and delivery of high-quality products. You'll work closely with product owners to understand requirements and drive the full development lifecycle. Your responsibilities include architecting modular, reusable component systems for scalability and extensibility, owning architecture across the entire request path (proxy, version-aware routing, server-rendered component runtime, and platform services integration), and setting technical direction for framework-level APIs consumed by downstream component teams. You will mentor colleagues, promote knowledge-sharing across teams, and represent the AIUX Framework in cross-organizational architecture decisions. You'll serve as an escalation point for the most complex production issues and contribute to designing and implementing new products while enhancing the existing suite. This is a high-impact technical leadership role requiring deep expertise in full-stack web architecture, AI integration, performance optimization, and cross-team coordination in a modern JavaScript/component-driven environment. REQUIREMENTS: Required: - 8+ years of experience with Java or similar object-oriented languages (C++, C#, Go acceptable) - Experience leveraging or critically thinking about AI integration into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving (using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AI's potential impact) - Passion for JavaScript and the Web as a platform, with focus on reusability and componentization - Advanced experience with modern UI frameworks: Angular, React, Vue, or Lit - Advanced knowledge of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, design patterns, and performance/scale considerations - Advanced knowledge and experience with relational databases: development, troubleshooting, and performance optimization - Demonstrated capability to manage multiple projects with material technical risk across teams and processes - Track record serving as functional lead or technical owner - Exposure to multiple technology stacks: Cloud Dev, Platforms, Web Dev, Frameworks, service-oriented architecture - Experience designing and architecting modular, reusable component systems Preferred: - Experience with build systems that emit multiple targets from one component source (server bundles vs. code-split browser bundles) - Hands-on experience operating services in Kubernetes: deployment configuration, scaling, rollout/rollback, and incident response - Experience building and maintaining observability tooling (Grafana dashboards, Prometheus alerting) for production systems
