Salary: USD 200,000 - 260,000 / annual

Scopely is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to research, design, and develop computer and network software for AR technology and gaming platforms. You will build and design reliable, high-throughput, low-latency, and scalable server and networking systems that support Scopely's developers and products. Key responsibilities include building core platform components that developers can use to create rich gaming experiences, performing load testing, participating in code reviews, writing unit tests, and conducting troubleshooting to ensure uptime for live systems. You will work collaboratively with a team of engineers, designers, game designers, and producers to execute on creative vision and deliver robust, efficient, and modular back-end systems and services. You'll work with external partners to architect and integrate sophisticated systems in a collaborative manner. This role requires developing, adapting, and executing long-term technical strategy to achieve key business objectives, driving a culture of experimentation and improvement around tools, technology, and process in engineering. You will collaborate with engineering leadership and cross-functional partners in Business, Art & Design, Production, and Marketing to develop and deliver technology that improves Scopely's products. The role may involve leading or supervising junior team members. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related quantitative field, plus three years of experience as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related role. You must have academic training and/or experience in object-oriented programming languages, data structures, algorithms, software system architecture, database design and querying for SQL or NoSQL databases, web frameworks, and cloud platforms (AWS or GCP). Partial telecommuting is permitted within US company policy.
