As a Staff Software Engineer, you will take ownership of technically complex, mission-critical areas and run with them autonomously. You'll define and drive technical strategy for new products and platform capabilities, from backend services and APIs to customer-facing UI. You'll design and ship full-stack features end to end, working across backend, frontend, and potentially mobile.
The role emphasizes building, not maintaining. Samsara is in full growth mode, building new systems from scratch rather than babysitting legacy code. You'll own entire problem spaces end to end with autonomy to set direction from day one. The work has real-world stakes: helping keep operations running, getting goods into supply chains, and keeping workers safe.
You'll participate in customer interviews, collaborate with product managers and customer success teams, and use that context to build products solving real problems operators face daily. This is a remote role open to candidates residing in the US. The company is hiring from Senior through Staff+ across platform and product, with flexible leveling shaped around the right person's strengths and interests.
