This Staff Software Engineer role is based in Bangalore and focuses on backend systems, distributed architecture, and large-scale data infrastructure. You will lead the design and development of consumer-facing products and systems that power Rippling's platform, working on real-time, high-throughput systems that serve thousands of businesses. The role involves hands-on technical leadership—architecting solutions, mentoring engineers, and solving complex technical challenges at scale. Key responsibilities include designing and building scalable backend systems and data pipelines, leading architectural decisions for consumer-facing features, collaborating across engineering teams to ensure system reliability and performance, and communicating technical concepts to both engineering and non-technical stakeholders. REQUIREMENTS: - 9+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a role leading architecture, designing consumer-facing products, and building systems - Strong proficiency in backend development, distributed systems, and large-scale data pipelines - Hands-on experience with data processing frameworks - Deep knowledge of building and scaling real-time, high-throughput systems - Experience working on consumer-grade applications with a focus on intuitive user experiences - Strong analytical and debugging skills with a passion for solving complex technical challenges - Ability to convey technical concepts to both engineering and non-engineering audiences effectively
