As a Staff Software Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader and architect, defining the technical direction of Pomelo's platform. You'll design and build scalable, distributed systems that enable clinicians to deliver data-driven care. Key responsibilities include:
- Writing exemplary, high-impact code that sets standards for the engineering team while architecting systems designed for scale
- Driving technical direction and architecture for complex, distributed systems that support clinical workflows
- Pioneering AI-powered tools and agents that significantly improve clinician efficiency and effectiveness
- Mentoring engineers and fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning
- Partnering with product and clinical leadership to shape technical strategy and identify high-impact opportunities
You are a seasoned, product-minded technical leader with 10+ years of experience shipping high-quality, scalable software systems. You have expert-level proficiency in system and relational database design, and fluency in languages such as Java, C#, Kotlin, Python, or Go. You have guided technical teams in building modern front-end applications with React or Vue.js. You're passionate about agentic AI tooling and have a track record of delivering elegant solutions to complex problems. Experience with AI/ML, NLP, or agent-based systems is a plus, as is a background in fast-paced, product-oriented environments.
