Ping Identity is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the PingOne Directory team, responsible for developing a multi-tenant user store that powers identity and access management for enterprise customers. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on leading feature development from discovery through production, including technical design, implementation, code review, testing, documentation, and operational readiness. You will collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Architecture, UX, and SRE teams to define requirements and design new features, components, APIs, and microservices. The role involves making technical decisions that balance product needs, engineering quality, performance, security, and delivery constraints. You'll mentor junior engineers through code reviews, technical feedback, design discussions, and knowledge-sharing to raise engineering standards across the team. Key responsibilities include leading the development of complex features for products with sophisticated user workflows, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement within agile delivery teams, and participating in on-call support rotation for a multi-tenant SaaS product. You'll work with modern cloud-native technologies including Java, Spring, Docker, Kubernetes, microservices architecture, and RESTful APIs. Required experience includes extensive hands-on development with Java and object-oriented design principles, Spring or similar frameworks, RESTful API design and consumption, containerized deployment environments, and build automation tools. Beneficial experience includes distributed NoSQL databases (Cassandra), event-driven messaging (Kafka), CI/CD tooling (Jenkins), Unix environments, Kotlin, Identity and Access Management (IAM), performance testing, modern frontend frameworks, and production SaaS operations. The role is hybrid, based in Austin, TX, with 1-2 days per week in the office and remote flexibility for the remainder of the week.
