Pebl is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join its Engineering team and drive technical leadership on scalable systems that enhance user acquisition, retention, and engagement. The role combines individual technical contribution with mentorship responsibilities, requiring you to architect and implement complex, scalable systems while collaborating with product, design, and engineering teams to shape technical direction.
Key responsibilities include leading architecture and design of complex systems; driving technical decisions and establishing best practices for coding standards, system design, and process improvements; building and optimizing applications using React JS, TypeScript, Postgres, and AWS in a serverless environment; mentoring and guiding engineers across the team; conducting technical reviews and ensuring high-quality deliverables; serving as a subject matter expert for the Growth Engineering team; and troubleshooting high-priority production issues.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong focus on backend development and distributed systems; deep expertise in TypeScript, Postgres, and AWS services (Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, S3); strong understanding of system design, scalability, and performance optimization; proven track record leading technical projects from inception to deployment; excellent problem-solving and debugging skills; lean mindset focused on delivering customer value and continuous improvement.
Preferred qualifications include knowledge of front-end performance optimization, open-source project experience, and familiarity with testing frameworks (Jest, Cypress, React Testing Library). Experience in growth-focused engineering projects or A/B testing frameworks is a plus.
