Okta is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to join the Onboarding and Lifecycle Management (LCM) Platform team in Bengaluru. The Okta Identity Cloud is the leading independent provider of enterprise identity, enabling organizations to securely connect people to technologies. The platform provides directory services, single sign-on, strong authentication, provisioning, workflow, and reporting across cloud and on-premises environments.
In this role, you will be a key technical contributor responsible for building, designing, and maintaining scalable infrastructure and services for identity and access management. You will work on enhancing services for importing, syncing, and provisioning identities, access policies, users, groups, roles, and entitlements. This is a high-impact position where you'll design solutions that handle large-scale production workloads.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with senior engineering teams on major development projects and architectural design
- Serve as a key contributor to LCM infrastructure implementation
- Troubleshoot customer issues and debug using monitoring tools (Splunk, Syslogs, etc.)
- Design and implement features with comprehensive testing, monitoring, and alerting
- Conduct design and code reviews, performance analysis, and optimization
- Prototype solutions to validate scale and performance characteristics
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers
- Interface with architects, QA, product owners, engineering services, and tech ops teams
- Partner with product development, QA, and site reliability engineering on scoping and deployment
Requirements:
- 8+ years of software development experience in Java, with significant experience in SCIM and Spring Boot
- 5+ years building services, internal tools, and frameworks
- 2+ years automating and deploying large-scale production services on AWS, GCP, or similar cloud platforms
- Deep understanding of infrastructure technologies: caching, stream processing, resilient architectures
- Experience with RESTful and SOAP APIs
- Ability to work effectively with distributed teams
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior engineers
- B.S. in Computer Science or related field
Nice to have:
- Experience with server-side technologies including caching, asynchronous processing, and multi-threading
- Test-driven development (TDD) experience
- UI development or JavaScript framework experience
- Knowledge of identity and access management protocols: OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML, SCIM
