Mapbox is seeking a Software Development Engineer II to join the 3D Live Navigation team in Germany. This role focuses on developing real-time visualization systems for advanced automotive navigation, integrating high-resolution 3D lane models, real-time sensor data, and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) capabilities.
You will own full-stack development across the navigation platform, writing clean, fast C++ code to integrate multiple data inputs for automotive solutions. Key responsibilities include:
- Develop real-time ADAS sensor data visualization and HD lane-level navigation for the Mapbox Navigation SDK
- Implement simulation tools for testing driving scenarios and sensor data playback
- Assess minimum requirements for automotive solutions and align with reference platforms
- Implement new rendering and navigation features in collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Own development from data pipeline through navigation experience across platforms
- Profile, debug, and optimize automotive navigation performance for specific hardware/software combinations
- Work directly with customers and partners to discover requirements, provide implementation guidance, and debug integrations
- Collaborate on cross-platform API design and performance tuning
- Improve product performance, stability, maintainability, and simplicity

REQUIREMENTS:
- 6+ years of professional experience in modern and embedded C++
- Broad software development background with customer engagement and automotive compliance knowledge
- Proficient in rendering with strong foundation in algorithms and performance optimization
- Strong understanding of ADAS features (ACC, LKA, etc.) and their visual representation in HMI systems
- Skilled in sensor fusion and filtering techniques
- Experience with build systems (CMake, Gradle) and framework/developer tool development
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with distributed teams, customers, and partners
- Fluent in English
NICE TO HAVE:
- Automotive operating systems (AGL, AOSP, Android Automotive, QNX)
- CAN bus experience
- HD mapping domain knowledge (lane geometry, road topology, map data formats)
- Orchestration tools (Yocto, Docker)
- Cross-platform UI toolkits (Qt, Flutter)
- Experience with Kotlin, Shell Script, JavaScript, or Python
