Okta's Identity Governance (OIG) organization is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Identity Administration team, responsible for critical enterprise identity workflows including access requests, approvals, and resource provisioning at scale.
In this role, you will take end-to-end ownership of feature areas spanning design, implementation, testing, deployment, and post-launch monitoring. You'll design and ship high-quality, production-ready features across the OIG system with focus on correctness, reliability, and performance. Working collaboratively with Product, Design, and Site Reliability Engineering teams, you'll deliver enterprise-grade software that thousands of organizations depend on daily.
Key responsibilities include architecting and building secure, scalable features; writing clean, well-tested, maintainable code; quickly addressing customer-reported issues; and partnering across teams for scoping and deployment.
Required qualifications: 7+ years with Java (Spring/Dropwizard) and/or Golang, deep understanding of multi-threading and asynchronous processing, OAuth 2.0/OIDC/JWT expertise, demonstrated AI fluency in agentic systems, experience building high-performance RESTful APIs and gRPC services, solid knowledge of distributed systems and microservices architectures, hands-on experience with relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and caching layers (Redis) at scale, AWS proficiency (Fargate, EC2, Lambda) with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform), strong containerization skills (Docker/Kubernetes), and CI/CD automation expertise (Jenkins, ArgoCD, GitHub Actions). Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field required.
Nice-to-haves include experience with Splunk, SignalFX, or Datadog; familiarity with Kafka or SQS; React/JavaScript proficiency; and understanding of multi-tenant infrastructure deployment.
