Okta's Identity Governance (OIG) organization is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Identity Administration team, responsible for critical enterprise identity workflows including access requests, approvals, and resource provisioning.
You will own end-to-end feature development across the OIG system—from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and post-launch monitoring. This role involves designing and shipping high-quality, production-ready features with a focus on correctness, reliability, and performance. You'll work collaboratively with Product, Design, and Site Reliability Engineering teams to scope and deliver enterprise-grade software serving thousands of organizations at scale.
Key responsibilities include taking ownership of feature areas, delivering bug fixes and handling customer-reported issues, writing clean and well-tested code, and maintaining high engineering standards across the team.
Required qualifications: 7+ years of experience with Java (Spring/Dropwizard) and/or Golang, with deep understanding of multi-threading and asynchronous processing. Strong knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and JWT tokens for service-to-service communication. Demonstrated AI fluency in agentic systems and modern AI applications. Experience building high-performance RESTful APIs and/or gRPC services with distributed systems and microservices architecture expertise. Solid experience with relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and caching layers (Redis) at scale. Hands-on AWS experience (Fargate, EC2, Lambda) and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform). Strong proficiency with Docker/Kubernetes and CI/CD automation (Jenkins, ArgoCD, GitHub Actions). B.S. in Computer Science or related field required.
Nice-to-have skills include experience with Splunk, SignalFX, or Datadog for production monitoring; familiarity with Kafka or SQS for asynchronous events; React/JavaScript integration experience; and understanding of multi-tenant infrastructure deployment.
