Nectar Social is building an AI-native social operating system for commerce, founded by ex-Meta leaders and backed by $30M+ in funding from GV and True Ventures. The company works with brands like Oura Health, Caraway, e.l.f. Cosmetics, and OLIPOP to enable authentic community-driven commerce.
As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll drive both technical depth and leadership across Nectar's full-stack platform. The role spans backend infrastructure that ingests and processes large volumes of social data from Instagram, TikTok, X, and LinkedIn; product and frontend experiences including AI-powered conversation inboxes, suggested replies, and conversation summarization; and technical leadership that shapes architectural decisions and engineering culture.
You'll design resilient integrations with third-party APIs, optimize data pipelines for reliability and cost efficiency, and build AI-powered product experiences using React and modern frontend tooling. You'll establish operational best practices including monitoring and incident response, mentor engineers, and write architecture documents that guide infrastructure and tooling decisions across the team.
The tech stack includes TypeScript, React, Shadcn, Zustand, AWS, Pulumi, Postgres, ClickHouse, and Turbopuffer. The company uses AI tools thoughtfully in daily work including Cursor, Claude Code, Graphite, and Granola.
You should have strong production systems experience (backend, frontend, or full-stack), deep understanding of system design and distributed systems, and experience building reliable data pipelines or complex data-rich web applications. Product intuition, mentoring experience, and comfort in fast-moving startup environments are essential. Bonus experience includes high-scale data pipelines, AI-powered UIs, LLM-integrated features, analytics dashboards, or early-stage startup backgrounds.
