Graphcore is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own the test strategy and validation infrastructure for next-generation AI accelerator drivers. This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on proving production readiness of complex device drivers and platform tools.
You will shape how Graphcore validates Linux kernel drivers, user-space libraries, and systems software across component, system, and acceptance testing levels. Your responsibilities include designing and building comprehensive test suites, debugging difficult cross-layer issues using hardware/software tools and simulators, and driving reliability improvements across the driver and platform stack.
You will work directly with driver developers, hardware teams, firmware engineers, ML stack teams, and cloud infrastructure groups. This role requires deep technical depth in Linux kernels and systems software, combined with the ability to influence architectural decisions and guide test infrastructure strategy. You will mentor other engineers, raise quality standards, and mentor teams to move quickly while protecting production quality.
Key responsibilities:
- Design, build, execute and report tests across component, system and acceptance levels
- Debug complex issues spanning hardware, firmware, drivers and upper software layers
- Influence design decisions and guide test infrastructure across teams
- Mentor engineers and raise technical standards
- Own technical priorities and delivery in an agile engineering environment
Required experience:
- Deep validation experience with Linux kernels, device drivers or similar systems software
- Strong C++ and Python test development skills
- CI/CD, build tools and modern automated testing practices
- Ability to debug across hardware, firmware, driver and software layers
- Proven ownership of technical work and delivery in agile settings
- Clear communication and technical documentation skills
