Graphcore is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own the test strategy and validation infrastructure for next-generation AI compute drivers and platform tools. In this hands-on technical leadership role, you will shape how Graphcore validates complex device drivers, Linux kernels, and systems software to ensure production readiness.
You will design, build, execute, and report tests across component, system, and acceptance levels. Your work spans low-level kernel drivers, user-space libraries, and platform tools. You will debug difficult issues using hardware and software tools, simulators, and emulators, collaborating directly with driver developers, hardware teams, firmware engineers, ML stack teams, and cloud management groups.
This role offers broad technical reach with responsibility for raising the quality bar across the stack. You will influence design decisions, guide test infrastructure, mentor other engineers, and drive reliability improvements that protect production quality while helping teams move quickly.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning test strategy and infrastructure for device drivers and platform validation
- Designing and executing component, system, and acceptance-level tests
- Debugging complex issues across hardware, firmware, drivers, and software layers
- Mentoring team members and raising technical standards
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams on reliability and quality
- Documenting and communicating complex technical concepts
Required experience:
- Deep expertise validating Linux kernels, device drivers, or similar systems software
- Strong C++ and Python test development skills
- Experience with CI/CD, build tools, and modern automated testing practices
- Ability to debug across hardware, firmware, driver, and upper software layers
- Proven ownership of technical work and delivery in agile settings
- Clear communication and technical documentation skills
