EarnIn is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to join the Growth Engineering team, which owns member acquisition and onboarding. This is a remote role with the option to work hybrid from the Mexico City office.
You will drive the design and implementation of new features for EarnIn's earned wage access platform, breaking down complex problems into elegant solutions and creating high-quality, maintainable code. You'll design and deliver robust microservice integrations via REST/gRPC APIs, collaborate with and mentor senior engineers through code and architecture reviews, and contribute to defining technical direction and roadmap planning.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement new product features with a focus on impact for community members
- Build microservice integrations using various communication and consistency strategies
- Mentor other senior engineers and provide thoughtful technical guidance
- Contribute to technical direction, roadmap planning, and risk management
- Lead cross-team engineering initiatives and participate in hiring
- Leverage AI tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT) in daily engineering practice
- Estimate and manage project timelines
Required qualifications:
- 7+ years of software delivery in collaborative environments
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in computer science or related field
- Expertise in distributed architecture trade-offs
- Proficiency in modern languages (C# and Kotlin used at EarnIn)
- Experience with relational and document databases
- Familiarity with clean architecture principles
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently in fast-paced environments
- Experience with AI-native development workflows
