Deliveroo, now part of DoorDash, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join its Hyderabad engineering team. This is a high-impact role focused on solving complex technical challenges across a global three-sided marketplace serving millions of customers, riders, and partners daily.
In this position, you will act as a technical authority and subject matter expert, providing high-level technical reviews and guidance across multiple teams. Your responsibilities include architecting scalable solutions for complex business problems in a high-traffic environment (20k+ requests per minute), defining and influencing the long-term technical roadmap, and managing project timelines and sustainable delivery paces.
You will mentor and coach engineers across all levels, partner with emerging leaders to scale engineering culture, and contribute to recruiting strategy and engineering interviews to maintain high talent standards.
Key qualifications include deep technical mastery in building web-based applications at scale with a focus on readable, well-tested software. You should have proficiency in languages such as Go, Ruby, Python, Scala, or Rust, and practical expertise with distributed systems including relational databases (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL backends (Redis, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch). Proven ability to design and operate systems handling massive request volumes and complex logistical workflows is essential, along with strategic leadership skills to align multiple disciplines and teams.
