StarTree is building the world's most comprehensive cloud analytics platform, founded by the creators of Apache Pinot. The company delivers real-time analytics as a fully managed service, powering hundreds of user-facing applications at companies like LinkedIn, Uber, Target, Stripe, and Walmart.
The Cloud Platform team builds and operates StarTree Cloud—a resilient, auto-scaling platform that manages hundreds of fully automated Pinot clusters in production across SaaS, BYOC, and BYOK deployments on AWS, GCP, and Azure. The team is lean, fast-paced, and focused on solving complex distributed systems challenges at scale.
In this role, you will own end-to-end development of features in the cloud control plane and data plane platform services, from conception through production launch. You'll manage substantial Kubernetes workloads spanning all major cloud providers and collaborate with strong engineering and partner teams to deliver scalable solutions for customers. The role includes mentoring and growing engineers while learning from experienced team members.
Required qualifications include strong software engineering fundamentals and proven experience solving distributed systems problems at scale. The platform services are primarily written in Go or Java, with Go experience preferred but not required. You should have hands-on experience building cloud-based deployments with working knowledge of container orchestration and infrastructure-as-code (Kubernetes, Terraform). The ideal candidate demonstrates adaptability and versatility, is comfortable navigating ambiguity while maintaining a problem-solving mindset, and has an AI-first approach to development. Open source contributions or technical blog posts are a plus.
