Union.ai is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead two teams responsible for deep, long-running partnerships with major infrastructure providers (AWS, OpenAI, GCP, Azure, NeoClouds, Apple) and the deployment engineering that makes those integrations production-ready at scale.
Partner Engineering manages the roughly nine-month integration cycles with hyperscalers and OEMs, porting Union's Flyte orchestration platform onto each partner's infrastructure and control planes. Deployment Engineering transforms those integrations into maintained, repeatable install surfaces—containers, Helm charts, Terraform modules, marketplace listings, and self-managed variants—so the product installs correctly across enterprise environments without bespoke per-customer engineering.
You will own planning and delivery across both teams, manage staffing and career growth, and serve as the senior technical point of contact with partner engineering counterparts through multi-quarter integration cycles. You'll set and hold the bar for production-readiness (reliability, security, operability), prioritize competing partnerships and work streams, and ensure every completed integration produces a corresponding maintained deployment artifact. You'll track and drive down operational footprint—on-call load, incident recurrence, support burden—and partner with project leads and senior engineers on technical direction without personally owning system architecture.
Required: 5+ years software engineering with distributed systems, Kubernetes, or cloud infrastructure experience; 3+ years managing engineers or teams through full planning cycles; experience running long-cycle technical partnerships or integrations (6+ months) with external companies; proven AWS, GCP, or Azure experience; deep familiarity with CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Helm), and Kubernetes orchestration.
Preferred: software packaging and distribution (Helm, Terraform, container/AMI builds, cloud marketplace); working with hyperscaler partner engineering teams; standing up or restructuring teams; operating in organizations where technical vision is set by ICs or founders; managing through project or tech leads rather than sub-managers; background in Go, Rust, or Python.
Union stewards Flyte, the open-source standard for data and AI orchestration trusted by LinkedIn, Stripe, and Wayve to run millions of mission-critical workflows. The company was founded by a technical team from Lyft with deep infrastructure expertise and has raised from NEA and Nava Ventures.
