Datadog is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join its technical leadership team in New York. This is a high-impact individual contributor role for engineers with 10+ years of experience and 4+ years of technical leadership (as manager or technical leader). You will own critical architecture across multiple systems, driving technical strategy and delivery at scale.
Key responsibilities include:
- Serve as technical owner of multiple pieces of critical infrastructure within your business area
- Own end-to-end delivery of systems you architect, from design through production at scale
- Deep-dive into system performance, inventing novel approaches to achieve efficiency at massive scale
- Participate in cross-organizational technical leadership, setting company-wide standards for software and systems engineering
- Lead design and delivery of industry-leading systems that demonstrate unique technical depth and/or broad organizational impact
You bring world-class technical abilities in areas such as data visualization, runtime profiling, or planet-scale streaming. You have demonstrated success leading the design and delivery of complex systems. You are comfortable using AI coding tools in daily workflows and can validate, critique, and refine AI-generated output. A bonus is motivation to push boundaries on how AI can improve software engineering practices.
