Braze is seeking a Staff Fullstack Engineer to join the Core Objects team, a hands-on technical leader role focused on architecting and scaling the foundational data systems that power Braze's customer engagement platform. The Core Objects team owns the most critical data structures in Braze's product, enabling customers to implement innovative engagement strategies at scale.
In this role, you will drive the architecture, scalability, and performance of complex, high-scale backend systems. Key responsibilities include: designing and implementing large-scale systems handling massive data volumes and real-time workloads; extending the high-scale ingestion pipeline for new advanced data objects; taking ownership of core backend systems and continuously improving their performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness; mentoring engineers on software design and operational best practices; collaborating cross-functionally with product and engineering teams; identifying optimization opportunities and researching new technologies; and maintaining operational procedures including alerts, on-call rotations, and troubleshooting playbooks.
The team extensively integrates AI into daily workflows, using agentic tools to navigate the Ruby monolith, create proofs of concept, and accelerate delivery from conception to production. You'll work with a technically sharp, passionate team solving exhilarating challenges at scale.
Required: 7+ years professional software engineering experience with hands-on full-stack or backend services work, particularly with high-scale, high-throughput systems. Proven track record building foundational data-driven systems (streaming, real-time pipelines, or large-scale data platforms). Strong technical leadership skills including architectural direction, effort scoping, and technical debt management. Deep understanding of software design, data structures, and algorithms. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Bonus qualifications: Ruby, Ruby on Rails, React, Go, SQL/NoSQL databases; MongoDB, Snowflake, or data lake experience; Kubernetes and cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure); distributed systems and API design expertise.
